Decorative profiles par excellence in Magdeburg

For this project, we are taking you to the historic city centre of Magdeburg, the state capital of Saxony-Anhalt in Germany where Dörthe Krüger Mähl, founder of MFG – Meisterbetrieb für farblich fachgerechte Gestaltung GmbH and freshly crowned Painter of the Year (2024) for the third time, has completed a first-class renovation project. This project in the Stadtfeld district involved the complete refurbishment of a beautiful but somewhat outdated flat in a building from the Gründerzeit period. The client appreciates elegance, aesthetics and classicism and has a strong connection with the flat, which she has lived in for 25 years. For her, this transformation was also an emotional experience and the start of a new chapter.

The result achieved by Dörthe Krüger Mähl not only exceeds the customer’s expectations, but also sets standards for high-quality craftsmanship, especially in the use of decorative mouldings and 3D elements.

In the heart of the flat, the living room, the tapestry has been made the star of the room. The floor, once covered in asphalt, was stylishly enhanced with a fine herringbone parquet and NOËL & MARQUET skirtings. The previously dark standard doors were sanded down and painted in white and then transformed into sophisticated classic-style doors through the use of narrow chair rails. The ceiling, which was previously covered with woodchip wallpaper, was structured with geometrically arranged decorative mouldings and highlighted with a lighting profile.

The small hallway between the living room and dining room features a unique highlight. Dörthe Krüger Mähl came up with something very special here, where a small gallery of important family paintings would find its place. She enhanced the ceiling of the hallway with the Pyramid wall panel, which provides it with a wonderful three-dimensional structure thanks to its distinct geometric design. The gold finish emphasises the importance of this area for the residents and is further accentuated by the IL9 lighting profiles underneath.

The painters of the year 2024 from MFG have executed this transformation with decorative mouldings and design elements.

Even the built-in wardrobe in the hallway was customised to match the new look of the flat with a ceiling rose adorning its doorknob. In the dining room, high-quality skirtings (FL4 WALLSTYL) cleverly conceal pipes, while smooth walls and elegant doors provide a pleasant atmosphere in the hallway.

In the kitchen, existing wooden panels were combined with NOËL & MARQUET wainscotting (WG1 WALLSTYL), resulting in a creative combination which, together with the W1 WALLSTYL lighting profiles on the tiles, produced a well-rounded ensemble.

Even in the bathroom, creativity had no limits. Overlaying the tiles with decorative profiles (WL6 WALLSTYL) enabled a harmonious transition between the tiles and wallpaper. Each room became an individual work of art, characterised by NOËL & MARQUET’s keen sense of design and MFG’s skilled craftsmanship.
