Step inside and experience luxury on walls and ceilings with NOËL & MARQUET mouldings in the Taschenbergpalais Kempinski luxury hotel. An iconic landmark nestled in the heart of Dresden’s unique baroque historical centre. For this prestigious renovation project, our design elements played a key role in enhancing the classical elegance and authentic character of this establishment, seamlessly blending timeless design with modern sophistication.

Renovation and the impact of NOËL & MARQUET mouldings

In February 2024, the Taschenbergpalais Kempinski unveiled its comprehensive renovation, a project redefining luxury while honouring the building’s distinctive baroque roots. Envisioning a seamless fusion of historical grandeur and contemporary elegance, the project’s interior designer Markus Hilzinger explains “Design changes, tastes change, customers become younger. It is a challenge that we accepted and addressed. We sought to make the overall design more contemporary, elegant and modern. Using modern technology, but also beautiful, tactile materials and a distinctive artistry. “

In the realisation of this vision, NOËL & MARQUET’s decorative mouldings were instrumental. A carefully curated selection of cornices and chair rails were installed to echo the architectural language of the Saxon baroque style. Installed throughout the hotel’s rooms, suites, hallways and other common areas, our profiles frame spaces with subtle sophistication, add architectural depth and contribute to a cohesive and luxurious ambiance. The result is a space that feels both grand and intimate, where every detail speaks of a commitment to comfort, style and distinguished hospitality.

The Z40 cornice, for instance, was chosen for its generous proportions and unmistakably classical flair. The perfect element to elegantly wrap high rooms in its opulence, reflecting the glamourous history of the premises.

An astute association of WL7, Z10 and Z1360 chair rails in combination with patterned wall papers and high-quality fabrics dramatically set the tone for an immersive experience of royal comfort and elegance.

Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski – an architectural gem steeped in history

The imposing building was originally commissioned in the 18th century by Augustus the Strong for his beloved Anna Constantia von Brockdorff, Countess of Cosel. Following severe damage sustained during the second world war, the site was meticulously reconstructed and reopened as Saxony’s first five-star luxury hotel in 1995, becoming a symbol of refined hospitality in Dresden, Germany and Europe. Across the years, the hotel hosted a plethora of prominent guests including former US president Barack Obama. Situated among architectural treasures such as the Royal Palace, the Zwinger and the Semper Opera House, the hotel reflects the city’s rich cultural legacy and exceptional baroque heritage.

The renovation of the Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden stands as a testament to the power of thoughtful design and quality materials. We are proud to have contributed to this transformation, helping to preserve the hotel’s historical essence while elevating its aesthetic for a new era of guests. This project exemplifies our commitment to excellence and our passion for creating unique spaces that inspire.
