Project “Link 21” – restaurant renovation in Belgium

Welcome to Link 21, an elegant and eclectic bar brasserie nestled in the heart of the Kempen region in northern Belgium. Here, a wide selection of NOËL & MARQUET decorative profiles were installed to redefine the interior’s personality and set the tone for fine dining experiences and special moments among family and friends. The restaurant offers a classic French bistro menu enriched with culinary influences from around the world. Discover how different design elements from NOËL & MARQUET have helped to extend this cosmopolitan and multicultural approach from the dishes to the interior décor and overall ambiance.

Interior architect and project designer Charlotte Wastiau recalls the original brief for this complete refurbishment project. “The client primarily aimed to create a highly international atmosphere, where it was important to combine different styles with a wide variety of elements and details to achieve an overall cozy and warm ambience”. From the beginning, this was going to be a project where the details truly mattered. In this new rendition of Link 21, architectural details and decorative accents are everywhere to be found. In the entrance for instance, the small R17 ceiling roses combine elegantly with the Z10 chair rails and Z102 corners, setting playful and sophisticated decorative accents. Architectural details even follow in the bathroom where the waterproof and shock resistant FB2 skirtings were installed. Decorative mouldings of all kinds are omnipresent, bringing a sense of decorative unity and adding the subtle yet expressive finishing touches that make the interior special.

The darker areas of the brasserie were designed with conviviality and comfort in mind. By mixing warm materials, colour palettes and lighting shades, this area feels like a secluded cocoon where meals are shared in intimacy. On the walls, the modern and linear WL10 chair rails were installed in frames, giving the space a clear sense of structure. On the face of the imposing shelves, the CANELÉ S panels were painted in a dark brown colour, almost giving an illusion of hand carved mahogany details.

The lighter areas of the brasserie and bar play on the abundance of natural light and the spaces’ impressive height to plunge visitors in a setting characterised by its luxurious atmosphere and grandeur. Here, the French influences and Parisian-bistro inspirations emerge to give the restaurant its signature style and feel. In this sense the Z10 chair rail takes centre stage, enveloping the space in its subtle elegance. The fine and characterful moulding is mostly installed in Hausmann-style frames accentuating the walls’ dimensions and creating a stunning classic decorative effect.
